Sidey Staff
Zipline for Charity
Two brave staff members from Perth based company Sidey, took part in a
charity zip line across the River Tay this month in aid of the Macmillan
Cancer Support - Perth & Kinross Appeal.
The appeal has been set up to raise funds for a new palliative care
unit, which is set to be built in the grounds of Perth Royal Infirmary. |

Julia Carr and Donna
MacFarlane from Sidey managed to raise an impressive £500 for the
charity and admitted, although they knew they were doing the zip line
for a good cause, they were still nervous.
Julia said: “I must admit I
was nervous, getting all the safety gear on, seeing the rescue boat in
the water. It doesn’t reassure you! Once we were actually up in the
crane, it was more exciting than scary. Stepping off the platform and
zipping down was great fun.
“With the money raised going to MacMillan Cancer, it seemed like a great
thing to be involved in. Most people I know have been affected in
someway by cancer and it seemed like a fun way to raise money for a good
cause. The extra benefit being that the unit is being opened in Perth so
the money raised is going to the area we live in”.
Donna Macfarlane from Sidey also had personal reasons for taking part in
the event: “I did the zip line for my granddad Thomas MacFarlane, who
passed away last summer. The standard of care that he received from the
MacMillan nurses in Dundee helped us all a great deal during a very
difficult time. Julia and I hope to do something a little more daring
next year to raise money for another deserving cause and would very much
like to make it a companywide event”! |
