Several celebrity guests
attended including MSP’s Jack McConnell, Tom McCabe and Shona Robison,
as well as, Sir Menzies Campbell and the Provost of Fife Frances
Melville, who hosted a dinner to conclude the three days of competition.
During the evening dinner winners of the competition were presented with
trophies which were provided by Perth based company Sidey.
Steve Hardy, Sidey’s
Commercial Sales Director said: “The Pan-Disability Open Championship is
a fantastic platform to promote the golfing opportunities available to
those who may have a disability. Sidey are delighted that we could
support such a positive event”.
Tom McCabe, Convenor of the
Scottish Parliamentary Cross Party Group on Golf, said: “I am extremely
happy to be supporting the first Pan-Disability Open Championship. One
of the key goals of the Cross Party Group is to support the continued
expansion of the game in Scotland – and the work of the Scottish
Disability Sport and the Scottish Disability Golf Partnership, to ensure
that sport is something in which everyone can participate, is superb.”
Paul Shepherd of Tayport,
one of the event organisers, said, “We are very keen through staging
this competition at St Michaels to prove that anyone with a disability
or serious health issue, can still play this game. We stage many events
and training sessions throughout the year, so the chance to learn and
develop golf skills or just to have some social fun is there, so give it
ago.” For
