Successful completion for council
housing improvement project
Perth & Kinross Council’s Housing & Community Care Service aims to
provide better housing throughout Perth and Kinross. To support this aim
- the Kitchen Renewal Project - has recently been completed, ahead of
schedule and with much positive feedback from tenants.
August 2005 saw the start of the five-year Kitchen Renewal Project which
has seen new kitchens fitted in 6846 houses across the area. The project
work, undertaken by Sidey, was completed three months ahead of schedule.
Installations were consistently completed within the 10-day target for
each home and overall satisfaction was extremely high at over 99%.
Housing & Health Convener, Councillor Peter Barrett, was joined by
Council officers and representatives from Sidey at the home of tenant
Ruby Mills who had a new kitchen fitted. Ruby said she was very happy
with the works done and felt the involvement of tenants in the projects
had been helpful.
Councillor Barrett welcomed the successful completion of the project: "I
am extremely pleased with the work respectively done by Sidey in
partnership with the Council to renew kitchens in our council houses.
"The focus for this project has been to improve facilities and so
deliver better housing. Therefore, the completion , within the agreed
timescales and to such a high level of tenant satisfaction, gives me
great pleasure. I know the project has made a real difference to people
throughout the Perth and Kinross area and I would like to thank Sidey,
Council staff and our tenants for working together so well for this
excellent end result."
Sidey’s Chairman, Michael Dobson commented: “I would firstly like to
thank the Tenants of Perth and Kinross Council for their co-operation
during this five year partnership, without their support we would not
have been able to achieve the highest tenant satisfaction rate in
Scotland of over 99%. I would also like to thank Perth and Kinross
Council for selecting Sidey to carry out this partnership and
congratulate all parties involved on their hard work, commitment and
most of all team work.
"Sidey’s success and ability to ride out this current economic climate
has been thanks to customers like Perth and Kinross Council that
continue to put their trust in Sidey because they are aware of the
benefits that our products and services offer. We are extremely proud to
have been involved in this landmark project and we aim to continue to
set the bar with tenant satisfaction rates throughout current and future
projects that we are involved in across Scotland.”
