Record Breaking Window & Door Project awarded to Fenestration Specialist Sidey

Posted: January 18, 2022

Falkirk Council has recently awarded one of the largest window and door contracts ever tendered in Scotland to Perth based fenestration specialist Sidey.

The project will include the replacement of windows and doors across approx. 5,500 properties over a 4-year period. Sidey will be partnering with NorDan UK by installing their aluminium clad triple glazed timber windows and balcony screens, as well as Sidey’s composite entrance and fire doors.

Steve Hardy, Sidey’s Joint Managing Director said: “This replacement programme will be a landmark contract for all involved and we are really pleased to be working with both NorDan UK and Falkirk Council. Our joint expertise coupled with our energy efficient product ranges, community benefits programme and our in-house manufacturing and installation capabilities, will allow us to deliver the key specifications of this project which include improving the energy efficiency and sustainability of properties.

“Corporate Social Responsibility is at the heart of Sidey and we make every effort to support the communities we work in, both socially and environmentally, which is why Sidey has not only committed to giving back 3.5% of the contract value to Falkirk Council’s community benefits initiative, but through Sidey and NorDan’s innovative product ranges will also help reduce carbon emissions.”

Steve continued: “In June 2019, the UK passed laws to bring all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. This means that councils have stringent targets to make the necessary changes required, particularly when it comes to housing. This is why at Sidey we continue to take our green responsibilities very seriously and manufacture products that achieve impressive levels of thermal efficiency thus cutting down on energy waste, which will assist Council’s in achieving these net zero targets set by the UK Government.”

The replacement programme will also see employment being created in the Falkirk area with Sidey pledging to locally employ various personnel that will assist in the delivery of the 4 year- programme.

NorDan’s UK Regional Director, Craig Greenwood, said: “We’re proud to be working with Sidey and Falkirk Council on this project, delivering wide ranging benefits for the client and residents.

“Our products will not only look great, but will be an important part of creating a warm and comfortable environment for the residents whilst also saving them money on their heating bills.

“Social housing customers are increasingly focused on sustainability, therefore NorDan’s low carbon products are ideal for assisting them in meeting their carbon reduction targets. Furthermore, the fact that our products come with a 60 year plus life expectancy and are virtually maintenance free, helps our customers to save money and reduces the whole life cost of refurbishment projects.”

Steve Hardy continued: “We are looking forward to working with and supporting Falkirk Council’s tenants throughout this programme, providing them with thermally efficient products that will aid in the fight against fuel poverty, whilst providing high levels of safety and Secured by Design certification for security”.
