Sidey Achieves ‘Highly Commended’ Award
Local window and door manufacturer Sidey Ltd are celebrating after receiving the ‘highly commended’ award at a prestigious awards ceremony for the construction industry.
The 2013 Construction News Specialist Awards took place at the London Hilton, Park Lane, where over 600 of the UK’s leading specialist contractors and industry elite gathered to celebrate the excellent achievements over the past year.
Sidey were shortlisted as a finalist in the Project of the Year (subcontract up to £500k) category for their unique KitFix® System used on the Grand Bouet project for Guernsey Housing Association. The company beat off stiff competition from 7 other entrants within the category, some of which included large international companies.
Mike Stevenson, Sidey’s Development Director commented – “We are thrilled to have received this recognition for a system that we have developed with our customer’s needs at the heart of its production. One of our fields of expertise is supplying windows and doors into the refurbishment and traditional new-build markets. As these markets became victims of the construction recession, it became clear that we had to look at other avenues and further afield than our Scottish market where in 2012 we celebrated 80 years of continuous trading. In the recessionary economy we took the forward thinking decision to invest heavily in solutions which would make windows and doors an integral part of the building structure. The patented KitFix ® system would enable a genuine ‘Fabric First’ approach, providing offsite manufacturers the opportunity to add real value to their client offering”.
This recent achievement comes hot on the heels of Sidey’s shortlist for ‘Most Innovative product’ at this year’s Housing Innovation Awards.
