Sidey Ltd, the Perth based window and door manufacturer, celebrated today their achievement of being one of the few company’s to achieve OHSAS 18001 certification from a standing start of under 8 months. OHSAS 18001 is a prestigious International standard for companies with world-class safety & health management systems that would ordinarily take 1-2 years to achieve due to stringent requirements and testing.

An official presentation of the certification was held by BSI (British Standards Institution) for Sidey at the company’s manufacturing facility on Feus Road and was attended by representatives from BSI and Sidey employees’.

“We are delighted to have achieved 18001 certification
, especially in such a short period of time, something our staff should be extremely proud of”, said Michael Dobson, Sidey’s Chairman. “Our employees’ health, safety and well being are integral to the company’s core values and sustainability initiatives. This standard reinforces how we continue to adhere to the highest standards for safe and healthy work place
conditions for our employees and visitors.”
“BS OHSAS 18001 is a recognised
method for promoting a safe and healthy working environment by providing a framework that allows the organisation
to consistently identify and control its health and safety risks, reduce the potential for accidents, aid legislative compliance and improve overall performance,” says Andrew Morris, Business Development Director at BSI. “Certification to this management system standard demonstrates that Sidey
manages its business efficiently and responsibly and that it can provide a reliable
service without excessive downtime caused by work-related accidents and incidents.”
President of the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce, Paul Shields commented: “I am delighted to have been invited to help celebrate Sidey’s fantastic achievement, and for them to have attained this certification in record time really is something to be proud of. With the backdrop of today’s challenging climate, it is heartening to see a local company impressively leading the way and demonstrating such effective teamwork to implement world-class management systems.”
