Our History
1932
Sidey started trading as a small glaziers in Perth.

1941
Sidey further established itself as a local glaziers by moving to Perth’s busy city centre trading from George Street.
1991
Sidey Ltd was incorporated and the company at this point was no longer known as a small glazing firm but had established itself as a well-known name within the Homeowner, New Build & Developer and Local Authority & Housing Association market sectors.
1995
QMS ISO 9001 Quality Management System for Manufacture & Installation.
2003
Sidey receives a letter of praise from the Provost of Perth & Kinross for our pioneering Window and Door refurbishment partnership in Perth & Kinross between Sidey and Perth & Kinross Council. The provost stated he had never witnessed a more successful contract with over 1000 houses completed with an incredible 99% satisfaction rate.
2004
Saw the opening of Sidey’s impressive manufacturing facility which was officially opened by MSP John Swinney.
2006
Sidey expands its premises and opens offices at 57 Feus Road to accommodate for a growing customer base.
BS 8213-4:2007
Sidey was first accredited with the Code of Practice for the Survey and Installation of Windows and External Doors, which gives guidance on survey and installation procedures, which has now been updated.
2008
Sidey launch & trademark its brand new innovative KitFix® system which allows windows and doors to be fitted at factory stage, something that was the first of its type at this time.
2009
Sidey received high profile recognition for its commitment to its staff recruitment and training and development programmes by being awarded with an Investors in People accreditation.
EMS ISO 14001
Environmental Management System for the Manufacture & Installation of windows, doors & conservatories, & the supply & installation of kitchens & bathrooms.
2010
Sidey survive the ‘Great Flood’
Sidey were accredited with the Contractors Health and Safety scheme (CHAS) having demonstrated compliance with and sound management of current health & safety legislation.
We achieved the NHBC Health & Safety Competence Assessment Scheme (Safemark) for contractors which demonstrate Sidey has the required level of Health & Safety competence.
2011
Sidey were one of the first companies to be awarded with the OHSAS 18001 accreditation for safety & health management systems. This was achieved in 8 months instead of the average 1-2 years.
2012
Sidey celebrates its 80th year trading.
Sidey Opened a brand new showroom in Dundee.
Sidey was awarded the SMAS/SSIP Worksafe Contractor Membership Certificate and Designer Certificate for our Health & Safety procedures. All documentation was checked by the Safety Management Advisory Services.
2014
Sidey awarded the LHC Window and Door Project of the Year Award for our large scale window and door replacement programme with Fife Housing Association.
2015

Sidey was one of the first to achieve this latest standard encompassing the very latest design considerations and updated regulatory requirements including fire, thermal design and installation.
Sidey first introduce a Modern Apprenticeship Scheme.
2016
Sidey met their commitment of 100% zero factory waste being sent to landfill, well ahead of the 2020 schedule.
2017
Sidey factory operatives were the first to participate in Sidey’s Modern Apprenticeship Scheme’ and 100% of our team achieved SVQ level 2 in either ‘Fabrication of Glass Supporting Structures’ or ‘Glass and Glass Related Distribution and Warehousing’ The year-long scheme was run by Sidey in collaboration with training provider, The Vocational College and the successful students were awarded their qualifications at Sidey’s headquarters in Perth.
2018
Sidey was proud to be a finalist in the Scottish Environment Business Awards.
Sidey opened the doors to a new showroom in Edinburgh.
2019
Sidey were one of the first Scottish companies in the glazing industry to achieve ISO 45001 safety certification. It means that we are internationally recognised for excellence in protecting the physical wellbeing and mental health wellbeing of workers. Find out more on in our news.
